Flattering Fashion Styles

The pressure to look perfect can be daunting. As women we commonly view our bodies against the images we see every day in the media. As a result we obsess about the flab on our bellies or thighs and think our rears are bigger than they really are. The good news is that with a few simple fashion tricks you can conceal areas of concern without spending hours at the gym. However, this requires being honest about your body size and shape and accepting it for what it is. Learning how to make your clothes work for you may seem overwhelming, but with some basic guidelines it will be easier than you think. Cut is ALWAYS more important than color.

  • Everyone knows that black can be slimming. But you can be dressed head to tow in black and still look larger than you are if your clothes don't fit properly.
  • Wearing baggy clothes will not disguise your troublesome flab. When your clothes are oversized, they will loose any definable shape and make you look boxy. This is not flattering to anyone, ever. Instead of hiding your body shape, you are drawing attention to the fact that you have something to hide.
  • Wearing clothes that are too tight will not make you look slimmer. Not only does too small of clothes feel too uncomfortable, it looks it as well. Instead of creating a slimming effect, what you wind up with are clothes that accentuate every flaw. Even if you can squeeze into those jeans you wore 10 years ago doesn't mean you should. Rule of thumb: if you can't breath easily, you shouldn't wear it.

When shopping, pay attention to how clothes fit rather than the numbers on the label. Unless you wear a sign that advertises your shirt or pant size, no one will notice or care. They will, however, notice if you look frumpy or fab.
